How many people are doing their diabetes testing like they should be? When you are not testing your blood sugar levels like you should be, then you are just putting yourself at risk for future complications. There are many different diabetes tests that you may need to go through or you may need to do them yourself. The first diabetes test that you will need to go through would be a standard blood test or pee test. If you are getting a blood test you will need to make sure that you are going to follow all the direction that you have been given. If you are told to fast before you get the blood work done, you had better do it. If you do not fast before the blood is drawn, you may end up with unusually high reading and need to have them done again. When you are doing the test at home, you will be using a glucose monitor to keep track of what your sugar levels are. You may need to check your glucose levels more than once a day so you can report them to your doctor. You could be asked to do a diabetes test before every meal and before bed. If you have diabetes then you really should test as often as you are asked. When you are doing your test like you should be then you and your doctor will be able to treat the diabetes properly. Refer to your doctor whether you need to start to do some diabetes test at home or if the test that they may have once a year is going to be enough. One thing to keep in mind is that if you are over weight you will want to make sure that you are having diabetes test done at least once a year because you may be at a higher risk for diabetes due to your weight. The best thing to do is talk to your doctor to see if you are in need of getting some diabetes test done to make sure that you are not having any trouble with your glucose levels in your body. Only when you are doing the diabetes testing right, you will be able to tell how your medication and what you are eating is affecting your blood glucose levels. Adjust your eating habits and exercise daily so that you may not end up with glucose levels that are too high or too low. |
