Many people with diabetes take insulin to control their blood sugar. Insulin cannot be taken as a pill. It must be injected into the fat under the skin for it to get into the blood. There are more than 20 types of insulin products out there. The decision as to which insulin to choose is based on an individual's lifestyle, a physician's preference and experience, and the person's blood sugar levels.

You may notice that you are going to have a little less trouble with your glucose levels when you took diabetes insulin. If problem with your blood glucose levels prolong, contact your doctor so that he or she will be able to determine the next step to correct the problem. They may increase the amount of the insulin or they may need to put you on another type of insulin. Since there are many kinds of insulin out there, then the doctor will have the option to make any changes that may need to be done.

It is very important to remember when you are taking diabetes insulin you should not make any changes to the amount of the insulin that you are taking without contacting your family doctor. If you change the amount of insulin without any advice from your doctor, you may be putting your health in danger in the long run. Even if you think that you are not doing anything that will harm you it just may in the end.

Keep in touch with your doctor when you take your diabetes insulin so that both of you will be able to come up with some conclusion to what would be the best for your diabetes. You will also want to let your doctor know if you are having any kind of complication with the kind of insulin that you are taking so the doctor can change your prescription right away.
