DiabetesMedicine

There are many different diabetes drugs that help to control the sugar levels in your body. You may believe that the best medicine to treat diabetes is herbs and that could be all that you choose to take for treatment. With all the progress that has been made today, there are lots of drugs that you are able to take to help treat diabetes. So ask you doctor what would be the best diabetes drugs for you.

There are five categories of diabetes pills: sulfonylureas, meglitinides, biguanides, thiazolidinediones, and alpha-glucose inhibitors.

Sulfonylureas
-
Stimulate the beta cells of the pancreas to release more insulin, which then lowers your blood
sugar. For this medication to work, your pancreas has to make some insulin. If your pancreas
makes no insulin at all, you aren't a good candidate for this class of drugs.

Meglitinides
-
Stimulate the beta cells to release insulin.

Biguanides
-
Improve  muscle cell sensitivity towards insulin so glucose can be absorbed. Lower blood
glucose levels primarily by decreasing the amount of glucose produced by the liver and prevent
  it from releasing stored glucose.

Thiazolidinediones
-
Improve insulin's effectiveness (improving insulin resistance) in muscle. Lower the amount of
glucose released by the liver. Make fat cells more sensitive to the effects of insulin.

Alpha-glucosidase
-
Help the body to lower blood glucose levels by blocking and slowing enzymes that help digest
  starches.

Your doctor will know what kind of drug and dose is going to be best for you and your situation. So make sure that you are taking to heart what your doctor is telling you as far as what to take for your medication to help control your diabetes. They really do know what is going to be the best for you and your diabetes, that way you are going to be able to help get the glucose levels under control.
